Day 2 Aug 20 Clare to Port Lincoln
After a great nights sleep in Clare , it was on the road again to Port Lincoln.
The day started out with Russ reorganising the bike with a new tarp and tape so there was "no friggin flapping".
As we had got in a bit late the night before , we took the time to do a lap through town to check out the main street. A lot of South Australia has been settled for a long time so there are some amazing old buildings around and it is often the ocal pub that is one of the most spectacular. Clare is very much likw that so as well as being a centre for wine there are also many old and beautifully restored buildings.
Anyway out of town and on to the highway to make our way north to Port Augusta and then down the Eyre Peninsula to Port Lincoln.
At this point , I would like to make a comment about nav apps - they are not always right so the way I was suggesting we go was ignored in favour of Co Pilot and guess what - we ended up doing an extra 25-30km!!!!
Anyway stopped in Port Augusta for a late breakfast and then down through the ever changing scenery of the Eyre Peninsula . One moment you are in the middle of the desert and the next you have a panoramic view of the sea. Lots oflong straight roads.
As we got closer to Port Lincoln the crops of wheat, canola and lupins just got better and better. Looks like a good harvest coming up.
Manage to drop in at Tumby Bay on our way through - amazing clear water and beautiful beaches. Would be spectacular here in the simmer months.
Anyway arrived in Port LIncoln round 2.30pm local time found our place for the night ( Port Lincoln Tourist Park - highly recommended ) and headed off to find some Coffin Bay Oysters.
Finally back to the park to sit and enjoy our oysters and then a glass of red and feet up to enjoy the view.
Hope you enjoy the pictures of our adventures today.
Helen
